My favorite cake must be the one sitting loudly in the pastry display in the Carousel restaurant. I have to admit, the reason why I love it so much is not its taste but its color. It's everything divine and heavenly but it tastes so normal, so sweet. So much so that I think I would have died of sugar overdose if I had finished the entire cake. It's small, pink, with white cream sandwiched between 2 macaroon caps and finished off with raspberries balancing daintily on the sides. Imagine my excitement when I saw that it's being sold at Pierre Hermé and Ladurée in Paris.

I'm going to Switzerland and Paris in less than 2 months and I'm so excited and fearful at the same time! Ever since I knew my favorite cake originated from Pierre Hermé, I've been looking it up and I've seen many pictures of those quaint and cute little french cake and pastry shops. Beautiful cakes have always been the bane of my life, and no matter how awful they may taste, I can't help but buy them back home just to stare at them. Crazy, I know.

I absolutely can't wait to jump into Pierre Hermé and Ladurée to try their famed macaroons. At the same time, I can't help but feel extremely fearful because I'm unsure if my heart and wallet can take the excitement when I stare at the rows and rows of beautiful cakes and pastries that will sit before me. Delicate and demure, but so wickedly sinful and expensive they will be.
While many make Gucci and Hermès their goal in Paris, mine is to pick out my favorite cake shop. I'm excited to find out if Pierre Hermé or Ladurée will make my eyes shine and heart sing!
